Huntsville Independent Press is an author-first publisher in Huntsville, Alabama. We have worked with more than 100 authors, and half of them have published with us across four imprints. Every one of them started the same way: a conversation about the book and where it should go.
Three Ways We Publish
Every offer we send falls into one of three paths. These are the actual figures from the offers we have made, counting only the books we said yes to.

Business Projects and Services
The press takes the book on in full and publishes it as our own. This path is selective. We choose it for the books we believe belong in print on their own merits.
The author and the press build the book together. You keep your rights and the final say on every decision about your work. We bring the editing, the design, the print production, the distribution, and the release, and we stay with the book after launch. Most of the authors we work with publish this way, and the finished books go onto the same shelves as everything else we make.
Some books arrive with a purpose beyond the bookstore: a company history, a book that supports a speaking career, a private hardcover edition, a print run for an organization. These are set up to fit the project, one at a time.
What It Is Like To Work With Us

We Talk
A phone call, a Zoom, or a visit. We ask about the manuscript, your goals, your timeline, and what you want the book to do, and we tell you plainly whether we are the right press for it. If we are not, we say so and point you somewhere useful.
We Agree
If the book fits, you receive a written offer with everything spelled out. You take the time you need with it, and nothing moves forward until you decide.
We Make The Book
Editorial development, cover design, interior design, and print-ready files, with you in the loop at every stage and the last word on all of it. Joshua meets every author in person at least once.
We Sell The Book
ISBN, retail listings, preorders, launch, bookstores, and direct sales, followed by sales reporting and support for as long as the book is in our catalog.
