Faye Rapoport DesPres,MS,MFA
Faye Rapoport DesPres was born in New York City and grew up in a small farming town in upstate New York. Her professional writing career has moved between media relations for environmental organizations, PR writing, marketing writing, and journalism. As a staff writer at the Intermountain Jewish News in Denver, Colorado, she won first place in the Weeklies, Special Sections category and third place in Sports Column Writing from the Colorado Press Association. She has also contributed short travel stories to The New York Times.

In 2010, Faye earned her MFA at the Solstice Creative Writing Program at Pine Manor College (now affiliated with Lasell University). Since then, she has published creative nonfiction, fiction, and poetry in a wide variety of literary journals and magazines. Her work earned an honorable mention in the Writer Advice Fourth Annual Flash Prose Contest, a third-place win in the Mystery Times Ten mystery writing contest, and a top 10 placement in the Tiferet 2016 Writing Contest. Prime Number Magazine chose her essay “Into the Vacuum” as an Editor’s Choice pick for the journal’s annual 2012 print edition, and several of her fiction and nonfiction pieces were selected by Connotation Press: An Online Artifact as “best of the year” entries into their annual collection issues.
In 2014 Faye’s first book, a memoir-in-essays titled Message From a Blue Jay, was published by independent press Buddhapuss Ink. She has since published three books in the Stray Cat Stories Children’s Book Series (Writer’s Coffee Bar Press), and she has two new books forthcoming in 2023: Soul to Soul: Tiny Stories of Hope and Resilience (Huntsville Independent Press), and The Art of Touch: A Collection of Prose and Poetry from the Pandemic and Beyond (University of Georgia Press), for which she is co-editor and a contributor.
Faye lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts, with her husband, Jean-Paul Des Pres.
